The team at Gateway Nephrology places a high priority on education—we want our patients to be informed, and to feel comfortable asking any questions. After all, it is your body and your health!
Patients often tell us we are approachable and explain complicated disease processes in laymen’s terms. We want you to feel knowledgeable and at ease!
For your first consultation, please bring a list of any medications you are taking, along with their dosages. This includes over-the-counter medications, herbal supplements, and prescription medications.
During your first visit, we will undertake a physical examination; we will also obtain a history of the current problem you are experiencing, any previous treatments and complications, and a personal and family medical history. We may also undertake urine analysis, imaging studies including renal ultrasounds, and/or blood testing.
A diagnosis and treatment plan will be suggested, and additional follow-up appointments will be arranged to monitor the progress of the plan; referrals may also be made as required.
